Emma Watson and 2 E34's (Low Mount Turbo M50 Project)
Managed to finally finish the Intercooler mist system this weekend. Here's a few pics of the hardware and install. $16 amazon pump works surprisingly well and has adjustable PSI range from about 70 to 130. Plenty good to operate misters. 9 mist valves installed in my setup. After hours of deliberation on where and how to install these I ended up using stainless wire tie. Zip ties were no good. The wire is strong and holds the valves steady. I may come up with a different idea later but as of now this is decent.

I set it all up on a small momentary switch and integrated it into a knockoff OEM knob for testing. I wanted to be able to turn things on without taking my hands off the controls and having to reach for a random switch location. The switch has great response and its easily reachable with my thumb in normal driving position. Should be pretty slick once I mold and smooth it in. Due to the depth of the switch I may have to bevel the shifter arm out some... Not quite to this point yet but soon.
Throwing stars finally refinished and on the car. Fitting nicely with stock M5 tire sizes 235s up front and 255s rear. Tinkering around with the offset I am finding that a 5mm spacer up front and 3mm in the rear should be ok. The M systems will fit over the new front brakes without any spacers which is nice however we run into the tire rubbing against the coilovers up front. As of now we have about 5-7mm of clearance so we will see how that favors when driving.
Not much else going on now as I have been waiting for parts to arrive for the shift linkage I am working on. After some further deliberation I have also decided to make some changes to the center exhaust section and remove the stock resonator. Originally, I had planned to keep it to make sure the exhaust stays quiet, and I do not have any drone. I hate drone, especially in a daily driven car. Problem is the stock resonator is so restrictive that I believe it to be causing issues with turbo spool. The turbo will build boost, but it does it slowly and won't make more than 10psi even with the boost controller adjusted. The wastegate spring is 8lbs so I should be able to make 16 psi with the current setup. I ordered a vibrant ultra quite 2.5 in/out resonator and stainless mandrel bends to fabricate a custom mid-section that will fit my SuperSprint muffler. Hoping to get that project going here as soon as parts arrive.
More to come.

Finished the exhaust last weekend. Stock resonator and muffler were starting to piss me off. Vibrant ultra quiet resonator to SuperSprint muffler. Tricky to make a good 2 to 1 collector but managed to get it clean. Still need to add one last hanger using the stock locations on the rear subframe and adjust the Vband clamps. Exhaust has nice low tone but still sounds pretty quiet. Hoping it will be nice for daily driving.

IAT temps were a little bit high due to my extravagant piping design to put the air intake in the factory location. Several hours of wasted fabrication time. Intake filter is now on the passenger side of the engine bay. Here is the end result after a few hours and some aluminum sheet.

The ebay churb blow T28 was pissing me off so I took it out and put in a slightly larger, better quality ball bearing snail. We are planning to get the car tuned in socal at the end of this month. βIts pretty freakin tight on space bottom mounted. The turbo cant be installed all in one piece. Exhaust housing, then CHRA, then compressor housing. Serious pain in the ass. Would not recommend. I wanted a bottom mount so this is what I get for my design.
New turbo has a .83 exhaust housing and a slightly smaller compressor wheel. I am after full boost right at 2500 rpm. The main goal for this car is usable power for daily driving. I am hoping I can make most (if not all of my power) before 5k rpm. Turbo size will likely choke out up top some but I dont really care. 80% of driving for me lives in the sub 5k range. Itll be interesting to see how it dynos out.
