A few more from the showroom this evening, trunk and hood are going to be hung on the chassis tomorrow and I *should* weather permitting be able to get the car and bring it home Friday afternoon. Here is hoping for a busy weekend.

Freakin' beautiful. Let the lego-like reassembly begin! I can only imagine how rewarding it is to assemble a car with every last component, bolt, nut, and washer being completely reconditioned and/or new.

On a side note, I am digging the 'safari' ride height of both the 318is and m3 due to the lack of weight in the cars. An e30 safari build, similar to a Porsche 911 safari build, would be fun.

It's got to be so pain-staking to reassemble such a clean restoration. I'd be puckering with every single nut and bolt.

Let's drive fast and have fun.

sin city bmw charges 100 to 125k for a full nut and bolt restoration on a 2002. from what i can see, this is even a good deal better.

do you and jon ever talk about opening a restoration shop?

i suppose the problem would be finding restoration specialists that have the same work ethic you do.

I think finding clientele with the means to pay for work like this, much less on a consistent basis with such a narrow scope would not work in the real world. Not unless you're getting mega bucks for the work to bridge the gap.

Jon and I have talked about it, but I don't think its something that would have happen when it comes down to it. I'm happy with this sort of work as a hobby, doing it for a living would also take the fun out of it.

A couple more with the hood and trunk mounted for transport home tomorrow.

Would it be possible to talk about your career, private message of course. I’ve been thinking about becoming a service manager for BMW or related.

Your guidance and opinion would be greatly appreciated as I’m a 19 year old college kid that got into R3V and e30’s from your builds.

Keep up the good work. You inspire many including me.

I used to do it for a living, now I run the shop. I'm always finding new ways of doing things righteously or little details we didn't get quite right the first few times around, so I can create processes to avoid those issues.

It was a lot easier to go from wrenching to wrenching than it is from typing and numbers-crunching to wrenching.

One thing I can't stand, though, is basic maintenance on my daily driver. I hate it so much.
