Welp! It was a long day at the dyno. Read up to 95* on the OBC and spent the whole day there, My turning PC wouldnt boot, after few hours charging and infront of the fan it came back, the dyno machine lost its mouse.... And no Alpha -N. Full throttle maping was fine and gained 5 to 7 HP with no maf restriction, estimated.. But doing this remote, with the tuners software there was no support to see how to map the anything below WOT, which was agervating.. So on..
So we got the Idle fixed and the maf is back on, and the cencus is that the cam timing is killing idle and the tune is a work around. For proper cam timing I need pistons with valve reliefs. And I don't feel like building a bottom end. Although I feel like this should be the proper next step. S54 laying in storage... Achelies motor sports mention they cams work perfect on stock cam timing blocks... All sounds normal.
Still waiting on a rear bumper shroud trim piece from BMW Germany so I can disacemble and reseal my trunk vents to keep water out... If the weather is fine ill take it on a trip to New Hampshire and back next week.
Working on some LTW flag graphics, Colors, Gumbal numbers, Banners, Time keeps ticking quick.

Yeah, the guy who started the MS41 code disassembly started messing around and injecting code to change things. There's some unused space in the calibration section (the 24kb partial) so he used some of that for larger ign/fuel maps and some custom features. There's a section on the openms41 wiki about the features.
Last I heard, he (Shake, or "mrf582") was trying to add a closed loop AFR table, but I think he's been busy with work or life because he didn't push it to anyone to test it.
His end goal is to release it for people to run, but it's taking a lot of time between scope creep and wanting to thoroughly test everything on as many different NA/Turbo/SC/swapped setups as possible.Leave a comment:

Yeah MS41 has a small failsafe table that works like Alpha-N. Resolution isn't as good as the regular maps, but beyond that I can't comment.Leave a comment:

Yes? Id say minimum on par with MAXX alpha-n bits, I belive there is a back up table for A-N, its a failsafe table. Im not a tuning expert. The easy way out usually isnt the optimal way.
But this moves standalone up my list of prioritys. It maybe chaper for me to put an S54 laying on the ground in then go the full standalone id like...
Well see how the Alpha-N ms41 tuning session goes.
Everything on my list will get done in time.

AlphaN seems to be antithetical to the computing power of an MS41 DME, no?Leave a comment:

Prog cont.
ODO: 3888
Ive added 2500+ miles since vintage, running errands to neighboring cities, long drives, Long drives, but trying to save enjoyment for the weekends so I can keep retention of focus for work throughout the week! Its a great place, and a great distraction from the real world.
A photo from the vintage trip. KILLBOY

Dyno chart: Ive battled an idle issue for a bit, Im starting to narrow it down to intake gas reversion from the the intake cam being retarted 10* and vice versa on the exaust cam for safe piston to valve clearance as they do touch with the cam blocks... An alternative would be bad computer? Ive dug and back probed the harness, replaced the MAF. We did run an Alpha -N tune on the dyno and it idled quite well.
The noted numbers in previous post are in STD Correction* This graph is in SAE, what you would find at a NASA / Club race event.
NEXT:
Make Dyno video - Maybe will wait on session 2
I have gather 2 rear NOS Genuine bumper shrouds from Thialand and waiting for another to be wrong from Germany... The studs are sized upon removal trying to seal up the Oring on the side vents - Water leak
Meanwile will LTW the rear bumper and get it powder coated
Session 2 Dyno tuning next week - Looks like going to start Alpha - N on the MS41 and see how it goes... I haven't saved up yet to go with the LIFE ECU. I did find .7V that I wasn't hitting from cable slack on the throttle as one of the throttle stops look to of fallen out...
ReCalibrate Throttle body stops
LTW Flags Front and Rear
Number Board? IDK
Fix Rear tire rub - waiting on new tires...
Trip from KY to NH in 2 weeks

July 2021, CONT
Eager to get my rear bumper trim in and drill out the rear bumper, , I have a leaky seal around the oval trunk vent that needs replaced but the rear bumper trim shroud hardware is seized.
Got a MAF Fault on the dyno... 1500 Miles no maf fault until first pull, New MAF installed, will see how it does next time.
A few things I've recently done:
Dyno Tune 2590HP 217 TQ
Use my 35MM camera - It fun to get back into analog and what makes a photo.
Take a Gopro drive with camera mounted 90* offf - Delete
On schedule:
Post dyno graph and video
Take another gopro video
Why CABS binding, Knocking - Clearance bushing, add zerk fitting
Alignment Check for SAI
Wash
Drive more

Progress, Slowing back down, recouping, catching up on work. But I do make effort for some getaway runs on the weekend.
Shop visitors usually have something cool, was interesting seeing lachs on a vert.Something In the works, don't know if ill go that far.... we'll see.....
Went out to the Country to check out a Local drift event at the roundy round track. Good stuf
Whelp, My tires flat... Wasn't ready to swap wheels, but this pushed me towards it. The old thick catalouge with rear springs removed trick got them from not rubbing most the time... Better fitment later.. No Installation photos..
But always looking for reasons to go on drives, Down the river.
Be some good shots for some AM sun.
Reviewing with Rabid Racing Development... The S52 with S54 throttle kit sits about 1/4 closer to the brake booster.

Id like to do the RRD ITB setup, but Ill most likely have to move the booster over to a strait shot into the pedal, and not have and offset clevis. The ABS fitment is already setup for that, Maybe an off season project.
Work
Slowly getting back in the groove. 726 Floor gets closer every week
Insanity right?
I have a part time guy now, progress is quicker, but still so very labor intensive. Rolled rockers / fenders complete
New Sound deadening and Nine stitch interior Reinstalled
