water pump is integrated into the timing chain and its FWD, so yeah..

Chrysler 2.7L V6s are the same way. The engine was competitive back in the day, but there are certain longevity issues that arose from shit-tier engineering like driving an internal water pump with a timing chain. Good for compactness and production steps, bad for everything else.

Someone at my office did the same to my Corvette, and now I need a new bumper. But, truthfully I'd be way more pissed if they did that to the E30.

Yeah, easy to replace a bumper, but they're damn expensive especially once you consider getting it painted to match. That's why my car still has the same cracked up bumpers it had when I got it.
