And MOST of that spending was signed for before he took office. It's a big boat to turn around, and when bills are written to not take effect for 2-4 years from signing then that makes the steering even slower. And I'm not blaming it all on Bush either, this mess was a LONG time in the making.
Even if there was a 100% halt on new spending, we would not have seen the effects of that effort yet.
I'm not denying that he should have gotten more accomplished than he has and that I'm disappointed. And there's been PLENTY of threads about this crap that we can argue about all over again. I'm not really intending to get into the details of it all. I'm more focused on the complete lack of professionalism and respect that I've seen in the last 4 years, the shameless political games, the sheer quantity of stank mud being thrown.
