BTW - M5 motor mounts successfully installed. I think I fixed the steering issue (would be very surprised if I didn't). Car is getting closer and closer to being roadworthy!
Working on Pitman arm steering is a royal PITA when you have an S38 crammed in your bay to negotiate around. bleh. I would NOT EVER want to have to work on an E30 with an S38 swap. ffffffuuuuucckkk that!Comment

The S38 has the intake on the proper side, and that entire plenum thing takes up a fair amount of space. Plus it has a significantly larger head. I was looking at Andrew's 535i yesterday, and it had sooooo much more room in the bay than mine.Comment

Yeah, it's a two-piece head (much wider, and taller than the M30 head), with spark plug wells deeper than the Mariana Trench.Comment
