On how a transfer case works? Believe it or not, some transfer cases are designed to operate on both pavement and offroad. Because so, they have differential like setups that can slip traction between the front and rear wheels. I'm more familiar with GM setups but this has been around since the np203 in the 60s-70s blazers and even in newer escalades/denalis with the nvg149/BW 448x. I'm not saying ALL transfer cases aren't locked but saying 4x4 trucks suck in changing traction situations is a little black and white.

I'm really hoping you're generally curious and not just being a pompous douche. I don't understand why people can't show a differing side of the story without immediately offending. :)

Soooooo, Slow afternoon here at Import Auto. We had an old NOS system lying around the shop. I conned my lube tech kid into putting it on his stock 91 Civic. Easily one of the funniest things I've done to a car. Went out first squeeze of was Meh. So, I took over on the switch maybe it was a bit too much.... Shit went boom. The air box exploded, The plate on top of the intake blew off putting a huge dent in the hood and bent the butterfly on the throttle body. We were dying laughing the whole time. Pics of carnage soon.

Finally caved and picked up a brand new trunk lid roundel and grommets for the iX.

Pretty crazy how a clean roundel can clean up your ass end..
