I'd think that about about the Euro S50B30/B32, not the S50B30 US. I mean, you're assuming a build is like changing everything, when most of the time you're re-using stock parts and freshening the motor up.

I'd rather have a freshly built engine, than a junkyard motor of unknown history.

Turning an M50 into an S5X vs Refreshing an S5X, pretty sure the latter will be an easier and cheaper path.. I wouldnt recommend anyone pull any CL or Junkyard motor and drop it right in. Almost as bad as trying to get S5X power out of a m42 :hitler:


Also S50 are silly over priced compared to S52. 2500$-5000$ for a S50US vs 1000-2500$ for S52

Definitely. A Euro S50B30/B32 is way more expensive than a US S50, but then again, you're paying for more HP/TQ, ITB's and awesomeness.

And the biggest expenses were definitely refreshing my S52.

That's why i find it kind of funny nowadays how people wanna drop in an S54 into an E30 for the price tag of $10-$15k all said and done, when now, you can buy an E46 M3 for that same price range, and have a better car.

Dont get me wrong, I still wanna build an S54 E30, but not where the prices are at the moment.

Nope. I wouldn't have owned over 24 E30s over the past 7 years if I didn't think they were phenomenal cars. But in terms of best bang for your buck, I PERSONALLY would rather spend $10k on an E46 M3 than spend $10k swapping an E30.

Both have their ups and downs. Owning both, I understand each of their duties. The e46 is a more comfortable daily that has everything you would want/need without too many over-the-top creature comforts. It's safer, quieter...the list goes on. In my eyes, the e30 is a perfect weekend/track toy.

A E46 is far and above a much better car than a E30.

It's better at EVERYTHING, except maybe driver feedback due to some nanny electronics.

The only reason I still own one of these shitboxes is because I needed something to drive while S54 swapping my touring
