why is your oil separator connected to vacuum on ITBs? That setup doesn't make any sense

I didnt mention that, but I had the wrong idea when I came up with that. It ended up building too much carnkcase pressure. So I now it routed atmospherically after the seperator. Its an OEM S14 seperator, works well!Comment

Not sure on the weight, I forgot! Its perfect balance of lightened FW and not too light. It doesnt chatter at idle too much. I drive this car ALOT. so far 17k miles since the engine went in in June of 2024Comment

Oh I'd already seen it posted somewhere else and didn't realize it was this car, even sent to a couple of my E30 friends. Sounds good. The Y-pipe to single exhaust and that muffler work together well. It has less of the raspy, buzzy sound a lot of E30s with twin pipe exhausts have. And it's not loud enough to drown out the sound of the ITBs, which always sound better than the exhaust anyway.Only on instagram at the moment. https://www.instagram.com/gefahrenewelt/Comment

is your separator drain line goes in the top wall of the oil pan or has a tube that's submerged in the oil inside the pan like on S14?Comment

I just looked up the instagram he linked and just realized the same thing.
In the video, the 318/M3 firewall cover has a small notch out of it, and the trumpet sticks partially into the firewall cover and the front one is shaved.
The pictures on the previous page, the trumpets clearly fit around the firewall cover and aren't shaved. Did you revise the trumpet size/shape or something?Originally posted by priapismMy girl don't know shit, but she bakes a mean cupcake.Originally posted by shamesonUsually it's best not to know how much money you have into your e30Comment

yeah after some testing I had to cut a flat in the cyl 1 trumpet on top to clear the hood, and I notched the firewall cover and made a small flat on the cyl 6 trumpet to clear the booster. I have a few sets of trumpets for this engine. Two sets of fiberglass, then a set of billet adapters I made for the filters I am currently running. Then I also have S54 trumpets for which I made the billet adapters.

The S54 plastic trumpets are the loudest of all of them lolComment

I don't think it matters but I'm about to find out that myself with my S62 oil separator on my M20 which I routed into the dip stick (I added a drain to the stock dipstick) . S14 has a tube from the oil separator into the oil pan which is submerged. S62 is not. I just not sure if there will be any blow by into the separator not only from the valve cover but also from the oil pan which will be pushing any oil up into the separator. I've seen some use a check valve on the separator drain line which is closed when the engine is running (ball pushed closed by the blow by) and open when the engine is off, allowing any oil from the separator drain down.Comment

I too have thought about that. I had my engine running with the drain line dosconnected from the pan and nothing coming out, however I didnt rev it up. I too thought about the one way check valve on the drain! Smart. So far, i have minimal blow by. I have routed the atmospheric end of the seperator to just by the bell housing and it doesnt show too much blow by for how high and often I rev this engine out.
