Rotella T-6 is 5w-40 synthetic. I use it in my truck, Walmart has 2.5gal containers. I will use it in my car if you think it’s good for the m20.
          My son has the 1987 325e, 2 door, 5speed
          I daily the 1989 325i, 4 door, 5speed

            Rotella T4 15w40.
It's conventional and has enough ZDDP to meet the e30's needs.
Also great b/c it meets JASO MA spec so I can run it in my motorcycle
If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

              Extra virgin olive oil.

Or in a pinch, COD liver oil.

Hasn’t this been covered a million times?

While I can understand wanting to give your car a European flavor by using Extra Virgin Olive Oil, you really should be using Flaxseed Oil.
With use it will form a nice non stick coating on the cast iron block. The reduction in friction can add 20 to 30 HP to a M20.

Bacon grease.... it seasons the cast iron block just right. Just remember to not cook acidic foods like tomato sauce. It attacks the coating and ruins the flavor. Use a m5x nikasil block for that stuff.

A friend of mine and I use Shell Rotella T5 15w40. No issues, and it's dirt cheap.

Rotella T4 15w40 or Valvoline VR1 20w50. These engines need thick oil with high zinc content. If you use oil for modern engines, you won't get that - they're specifically low-zinc, because zinc wears out the catalytic converter.
