Its not that he asked for dyno numbers....its that he called Jake a Vlad. Thats about as low as you can go. Hes calling Jake an unethical scammer which is not even close to the truth.

People who pay for a kit get the kit and it works just fine for them. No scam, no poor workmanship, no refusing to refund, ect.

Yeah, I commented....why not use the E30 intake and pan. Everyone said it wouldn't help. I knew it would, I just didn't have the financial resources to put it together. I'm glad you proved people wrong though :)

    Dyno numbers

Hoping to dyno my buddies e21 eventually so get some numbers. His car is damn quick...and still getting 28mpg on that last tank. A lot of cruising in there but some hard driving as well. I may have mentioned before but my buddy with the e21 also has an sti and says the turbo m42 feels similar to the sti. power to weight...

I do have at least one person that wants a kit so it looks like it will go into development. If more people get in at the same time I might be able to bring the price a bit lower.

A dyno pull(s) is around $150 here, $70 if you get in on a group dyno day. Just to give an idea on cost.

If you are interested in a standalone IMO be prepared to want to know how to tune it and learn it in and out. Its fairly time consuming and can be aggrivating at times. It is also fun and rewarding learning everything....but you have to want to learn and put in the effort. Just getting a "plug and play" unit and thinking thats going to work fantastic out of the box will leave you disappointed.

If I was hooking up a standalone for someone I would say as a rough ballpark price to set aside $1500 for the unit, sensors, wiring, time, ect.

Yes a standalone is doable but that is a completly different setup than what this kit is meant to be. It's a low boost, bolt on it.

The cost depends on what standalone you want.... Would you want it pre tuned?

I know of a complete 2002 and m42 setup for sale if you are interested.

for a kit like this dyno numbers are window dressing. you have reference customers. if they're for real and felt ripped off they would say something. do you honestly think he's getting rich off this kit?

my guess: until a buyer coughs up the cash for before/after dyno work you won't be seeing numbers here. Shouldn't stop you from buying a proven kit.

Absolute window shopper......the car is running 9lbs of boost it anit a rocket ship........but you going to be alot faster than stock and there anit shit too can do to make an na m42 faster on the cheap.......figure 200-225 hp or if your really interested fork over the money for the dyno yourself he has posted vids actual customer testimonials about what your getting

From our conversations, he does not have a turbo M42 and in reviewing his documentation of the mock-up it was completed on a donor car.

If there is a serious demand for dyno results maybe we could split the cost between 10 of us. I would be willing to bring my car to a shop. Personally, I am not interested in the results so I wont be doing this on my own. I do need to put a new clutch in first and the salt is down so it would have to be in the spring.
I would be interested, depending on the $. What would a dyno cost?

    lol what?

Common, lets be real here. No one questions the quality of products that Jake provides, nor his service...but for the piece of mind one wants to know what this money will get him, and currently there isn't a number.
Also, the fact that everyone car is different is invalid excuse as well. The number is not to be treated as absolute gain, its an approximation.

I mean would you pay $1,700 for a computer that i told you it was build right and preformed well....yet, not sharing RAM, storage #'s, dedicated memory and video information(ie. performance)? You wouldn't.

I did state I was a noob and was just asking the question. I think this kit is awesome and wish I had seen this thread before I bought a second e30 s50 swapped car (that I'm not even driving yet ) I would have totally gone this route first. I was asking about the AFM because mine is going bad in my 318is.

On a more serious note, how do you like your 2002 m42? Been putting serious thought into ditching the e39 for a 2002 m42 dd.

alot. the main reasons jake is probably staying away from this is as follows

    1. stand alones are expensive
    2. There are so many different varieties for different applications. It would be hard to meet consumer needs
    3. The kit is designed to support a specific amount of boost.
