I just want to know how you're going to do what no other scientist has done: increase the thermal efficiency of an ICE by 150%.Comment

You don't have to be a scientist or super engineer to have a great idea. I never spent more than a week on my design, it just came to me easily and i'm far from being any kind of genius in fact i have short term memory loss from my TBI.sigpicComment

OP I'm all for the little guy outsmarting the big guys with money, but if you read through that turbo thread its kind of hard to take you seriously when you almost come off the same way as the wyotech kid did. Best of luck to you and let us know how things come along.Comment

geez man, dropping the military card. not needed. but even before a lawyer i would do the poor mans patent (not even sure if its still valid) but my dad always told me if you had a great idea and alot of the details you could mail it to yourself and as long as it is in a sealed envelope with the postal services stamp and date on it, its technically yours at that date. correct me if im wrong anyone (as im not 100% on this). but if its true id send like 10 of the designs to myself in case a lawsuit comes up and you have to open one to prove its yours. that way you have others for follow up law suits lol. other than that yea go to a lawyer and ask them how to get a patent, dont tell them the idea just ask about the process in which to patent it. also id recommend 1 doing some more research on patent laws before a lawyer. 2. do more research and development like make a 3d model to see if theirs any flaws. 3. stop posting your million dollar idea on public forums or any forum for that matter. 4. start researching previous engines and patents to see if someone beat you to it, it could just be buried away somewhere collecting dust. 5. revise revise revise...your idea there might be some flaw in it and you get that specific engine patented and some douche comes by sees yours and sees something that would work better. its a long process and you said you only spent a week on it. before getting a patent i would make sure you have all the kinks worked out, or at least the kinks on paper. umm im out of things to say. from one military guy to another, dont drop that line, your gonna make us all like were self righteous and feel America owes us something. we did/doing our job, they do theirs... goodluck with the research/patent/build/money. im rooting for the little guy here too.Saabs engine was a hinge system not vertical and they should of saved their money by scrapping that design in the first sketch because it would create more wear in the cylinder on the side that was tilted 4* and it was also to costly and complex like all the other (VCE's) out there. But hey if you think that I'm just trying to show how awesome I am and can't back it up then that's cool. I faught over seas so you can have that right to say whatever you want so I'm not cryin over petty sh!t like this. Thanks to the rest who supported and gave intrest in my idea.
in hindsight, those 5 tips arent really in the right order id do it more like (stop posting on websites, poor mans patent, research other patents/laws, revise revise revise, and then bring to a lawyer)
hope i helped

As a law student it would be unethical for me to give you legal advice as i am not an attorney. So here is some non-legal advice: If you're idea is as revolutionary as you claim, it will make you a great deal of money. Go see a patent attorney. They are a special breed, in order to file a patent you must have passed the patent bar and thus have a technical degree (hard science or engineering). Not just any lawyer can file a patent. You may be able to get someone to do it pro-bono (free) or perhaps on contingency that they get some percent of the profits generated by your vaporware, sorry i mean revolutionary new idea. Good luck.
(I want to be a patent attorney and have a technical degree, i do know what im talking about)Comment
