So this whole oil pan repair has become quite the project.

It has snowballed into replacing the power steering pump, fuel lines, engine and trans mounts.

Ive known my power steering was dying for a long time. Its the second used zf pump. New ones are NLA. Last time I tried to buy one there were no options. This time I stumbled upon a new AAE unit offered through bimmerworld, so I'll give it a shot. I also saw rockauto offers rebuilt units.

I also have ball jointed control arms. But running a normal guibo, and 5lb flywheel (clutch masters small twin disc).
Sounds great. Turbo/WG/downpipe is all super tight, so any info you can gather on position delta would be huge.

Forgot to include I'm on a cheap-o FX racing ""stage 3"" single mass/6-puck/Sachs HD setup. Lighter than an M20 flywheel but nowhere near 5lbs.

5lb flywheel, and what's the clutch pack weigh? I bought the lightweight kit from UUC and I was warned that the transmission would rattle due to less inertia, and they were right, the damn thing rattles every day once the car warms up. They said to fill up half the trans with a quart of thicker oil (I don't remember which exactly) to reduce the rattle. It's still pretty annoying. But it will stop once I press the clutch in. Kind of makes me think the TO bearing is junk.

So I'm wondering, do you also have that problem with a lightweight setup? Transmission rattle when the car is idling?

akg mounts shifted the engine about 1/2" to the passenger side

The whole unit is ~18lbs. And yes it rattles and vibrates like a mofo. Pushing the clutch in also quiets. Doesn't sound like anything wrong with your setup, especially if you don't notice any performance issues. Ive literally had a few people warn me that "my car is broken" Ha!

Well for most swaps, that means a little extra room for a brake booster.
You have a chassis-mounted shifter, right? Does that setup have enough play to allow for the engine's shift? (pun intended)

Yea shifter will be fine. Ill probably have to adjust it though.

And for good lord, use the AKG swap mounts with Rouge trans mounts. Those Delrin rigs with buzz bomb the car apart. :)
I seem to be having fitment issues. Angles don't really line up. I followed AKG instructions. Set everything up loose. Still sits wonky.

                    Trans mounts are loose too?
The AKG mount isn't sitting flush on the crossmember. I had mine sitting flush then the arms wobbled in. I used a 2x4 under the oil pan to assist, made it a bit easier.

^^ That mount will tear in no time if left like that. No advice on why it fits like that, though.

How much NVH that comes from solid mounts is largely dependent on how well the flywheel and pressure plate are balanced, in my experience.

                      RISING EDGE

Let's drive fast and have fun.

Interesting. Both my previous revshift mounts, and the condor mounts, both had offset bolt positions side to side, vs these AKG mounts are symmetrical. I seem to be fighting this difference. Though I did manage to get them sitting more flat with much wiggling when settling. Still doesn't seem right. Gonna leave it for now cause I planned to drive it this weekend. Will revisit and reach out to AKG.

I hear ya. No reason to believe there's any inherent imbalance with my rotating assembly. It was fully balanced years ago when I built the engine. Just figured "while I was in there" I would swap the mounts for something a touch softer and perhaps cut a bit of NVH.
