Not that one - the RED46 sheet metal style one. It's been fine for years of bashing until this situation happened. I thought I would've upgraded to the e46 rear sump by now....

      Too many projects!... haha

This sucks, but as usual its an excuse to finally install the proper rear sump. Its a win-win from a sh!tty situation

Thanks for the updates! Bummer about the pan..

I did the S54 Sump for 2 reasons, Clearance, better oil control.

Now there is a one off rear sump pan a guy is making which looks OK!...

Picks & Sound of center exit?

Still one of my Fav Rev cars!

This has taken longer than expected, as these things do. I ended up contracting the pan/subframe mods to Bayside fabrication to fit the s54 pan. Finally installed it, not without some drama. Stripped a bolt going into the rear main seal housing. Im gonna send it and hope for no leaks. Used curil-t on the seal for good measure.

Taking the opportunity to replace fuel lines and power steering pump. The lines were cracked, probably from bad CA gas. The power steering pump has been slowly letting go for a while. The ZF m3 pump has been NLA, but I noticed a new AAE brand pump available from bimmerworld so im gonna give that a shot.

Looking forward to get this car back on the road. I realized I've only driven it 3x this year which is sad. Missed a few autox, cars n coffee, and canyon runs.

Hey, I am going to recommend the high volume vac S54 oil pump.

Save you some time, and noisy lifters..

And for good lord, use the AKG swap mounts with Rouge trans mounts. Those Delrin rigs with buzz bomb the car apart. :)

                  AKG motor mounts or nothing!

I recall ages ago I was trying to purchase those exact mounts - both the AKG and rogue for the same reason (less vibrations). I don't recall why I didnt. Maybe they were out of stock and I was impatient. Ill see if I can order and receive them quick enough to change them out now.

Regarding the VAC pump upgrade... is it really that needed?? I spent too much on this side project already. That's another $1500+ 😭

Are they that bad in an E30? I used condor UHMW mounts on the engine and their poly mounts on the transmission of my E34 and it's fine as a DD even with the all aluminum twin disc setup. S52, 3L M50 stroker, vibration wise they're the same engine. Granted for me it's 100% necessary because of how little room there is for the engine to move and I'm making 2x+ S52 torque.

The S54 uses a different size sprocket and volume pump. The "High volume" setup just puts the M50 pump gears inside of the S54 housing, so your ratio to pump volume will be back to normal.

I'll let you know in a week. Just ordered the AKG mounts. I don't think it's that bad, but yes it is a bit buzzy and I do get some vibrations at certain RPM.

Yea I remember the general mechanics of it. At one point a few years ago I was going to try to have a local machine shop machine the pump cavity, and the I'd just stick a spare M52 pump gear in it and save myself the $1500 VAC charges. But I don't have time for that, and am out of budget for this unbudgeted project. So I hope it won't be too bad for now. Maybe I'll try to source another used s54 pump and have it machined to be installed at a later date. I also stripped a bolt going into the rear main seal housing at the back of the pan. So I may already have a reason to open it up again in a few months.

I run Condor engine mounts/stock e30 trans mounts, and besides the most minor vibration through the wheel at idle, it's only really noticeable if I bog the engine (keep in mind THR eyeballs and solid steering guibo probably make it worse than the mounts themselves.)

That said, I have some logged knock at light load areas, which doesn't make sense unless it's false knock.
Maybe electrical, maybe noise from the mounts and I really have no way to tell other than trial and error changing mounts and whatnot.
So I bought the newest Revshift mounts, and while I'm a huge fan of Revshift's bushings and other mounts, I can't run these mounts because they move the engine further to the passenger side and I don't have room to do that (The claim is that they 3d scanned original/24v swap configuration and found it needs to move further to the right, I guess due to the increased lean angle?)

So I'm mentally preparing to buy a set of AKG at some point when my car is closer to the road, but they historically have spent way more time sold out than available. Probably why you didn't buy them originally, and was why I ended up with the Condor mounts as well.

Yup you are correct. I found my emails requesting lead time a few years ago. Got lucky this time around and got my hands on a set, along with their matching Trans mounts. Ill report back with some review.

I also have ball jointed control arms. But running a normal guibo, and 5lb flywheel (clutch masters small twin disc).
