"Earlier today I brought the car to John to see if we could make a harness bar. I walked away wanting a half cage I mean, I have to reinforce the rear shock towers anyways........"

do not just run a harness bar with fixed seats and harnesses. i have see the result of 2002's rolling on track and have cut the roofs off a few 2002's. the roof on a 2002 ain't that strong. your head will become the strongest point on the car in a rollover. if you insist on running harnesses on the street, at least do a half cage/ 4pt rollbar.

Same conclusion that I ended up coming to; if the car were to roll and the roof to crumple, I'd be strapped in a seat upright and my head would have to support the weight of the whole car. Thanks for looking out for my well being ;)

I see that a fair amount of people, including yourself, run a Kirk Racing rollbar. I also found the install on your thread, good stuff!

I got a message from a guy I know with pics of your car at FAU. Wish I had been there to check it out, that's my school too. Must be a blast having all that torque in such a lightweight car. Crank up that boost!

Oh nice. I thought I recognized the parking garage from your build thread. 13lbs is pushing this little snail pretty hard, plus I cant keep even traction in 2nd & 3rd gear before I hit boost.... Maybe I'll up the boost when I remavp the rear end of the car haha. Since you know volvo turbos and such...is there any way to pep up the tb03?

I don't think the garage in my thread is at FAU.

As for the turbo, yours is bigger than mine. I've got a .42AR compressor housing and .45 trim (I think) T3 wheel, you've got a later .52AR compressor housing which should contain a .50 trim wheel. What's the AR of your turbine housing? I'm assuming standard .48. If so, you could wake it up a bit with a .63AR turbine housing of which I have a couple of spares, since you don't need such a small turbine housing on a 2.5L engine. It's fairly easy to swap a backing plate, housing and T4 compressor wheel on these little T3 family turbos which will give you good power potential. I'm planning on doing that once I've remedied my traction issues (crap tires, open diff).

Correct. That's exactly what I told him. Not only in 2002's, but in any car it's unsafe to have a harness bar (or no extra bars) and a fixed back seat.

I also went on to tell him about the Mustang that crashed at a road course event. Bolt in roll cage, stock seats. The car rolled and the bolt in points failed and the cage poked through the bottom of the car, only thing that saved them was the stock seats folding. o.0

I've got a .42AR compressor housing and .45 trim (I think) T3 wheel, you've got a later .52AR compressor housing which should contain a .50 trim wheel. What's the AR of your turbine housing? Oh lol! My bad. Yes, you are correct, I have a .52 compressor housing. I sent you a PM with few other questions. A decent set of tires should really help out with traction in the rear. LSD couldn't hurt either.

Haha, yes, I had to start keeping track of the work being done on this car. Instagram just wasn't cutting it. Full sized pics ftw! Yes, I'll be talking to you soon about some type of cage......

In other news, last weekend, with the help of Carlos from Condor Speed Shop, the transmission tunnel was fabbed, created, and welded on. The chassis feels much more rigid than before, and everything is much, MUCH quieter in the cabin

Had a banner made for the car. I've since then cleaned up the garage lol

I've been driving the 02 around lately, testing it out and seeing what needs work. My main issue by far has been keeping the coolant temps down

I hung out with a few friends at Ikea

And I struggled getting these to fit......until I got a fender roller and pulled the fenders :p

Then I swapped the large stock wheel out for a smaller one

I took off the bumperettes and the rear reflectors. That cleaned the rear end up a lot

But here's what everyone wants to see :eeek:

Then, the inner adult in me came out, and I ordered a programable fuel gauge. This way I'd know when I'm running out of gas, instead of carrying around a jerry can

My friend Niko, with the black e36 on super advans above, gave me his old pair of ksports. Coincidentally they take the same size bolt for the eyelet on the bottom, and would work perfectly to make a true rear coilover setup. I have my parts list created to make a set of front coils, hopefully I can throw together a set within the month

Then a couple days ago I made a fan shroud for the radiator. It worked great, sadly I can'y space the fan very far off of the radiator due to size constraints in the engine bay :(

I'm literally splitting hairs with the current setup. Thank god for solid mounts
