I'm slowly, and I mean really slowly, acquiring parts for my 24v swap.

The railroad has changed me. In my 10 years as a tech I never considered rebuilding an alternator.

Alternator took a shit on the S4, so I decided to investigate since a new OE unit is $600. Took off the voltage regulator, worn brushes. Found some brushes that fit with a little filing, soldered them in, boom. Fixed for $6.

Some of you may remember me posting about those old VDO gauges I had. I finally found a use for them.

This is just the start. I gotta cut the holes more to get gauges to sit it and cut the hole for the speedo to sit in which is now a clock. I will round the edges of the cedar wood and distress it with the blow torch and then put a clear lacquer over it. And wrap the would in some sheet metal that will get painted and distressed. The gauges will all get wired up to a 9 volt battery with a switch and the voltage gauge will be functioning since it will be a 9 volt system.

Missed the opportunity to make it rotary shaped. Will the gauges be operational?

The gauges will light up and the voltage gauge will light up and show voltage

                            Looks pretty neat!

On a side note, are any of you running a brake hardline delete/softline kit? Just curious since I saw chase bays kit.

I don't like Chase Bays in general... The fact that they make a single piston brake master cylinder makes me question how much thought or care they put into their products.

Oh, and then after multiple people started hating on them, they apparently added this line:

A common misconception is to believe this causes a higher risk of failure due to a lack of a back up line should one line fail. Most OEM master cylinders are still single feed internally and have the same assumed “risk” to our Master Cylinder.
Apparently they've never even looked at the OE Brake Master Cylinder that they're replacing?

Also pretty basic probability to figure out that the chance of failure for both pistons in the OE cylinder is way less than a single.

Huh never thought to look at that but you're totally right. Not sure how they can really miss that...maybe the refer to single feed as in pulling from one reservoir ;D
