Now that the Jetta is fixed... its not bad... except for now failing door panels the Daily is OK for now... one car at a time.

Step 1: Gotta finish the Elan & get those few things I want done on the Porsche
Step 2: Then I decide whats going away.
Step 3: profit?
Step 4: Spend thousands on the E30?!... or sell it?..
Step 5: New Daily? Thats easily 2027 if not later haha

That VW wouldn't be on my radar in any circumstance, but my car judgement is questionable. My daily burns more oil than a VW, gets 20mpg, and has a clutch pedal that doubles as exercise equipment. If I needed a lozenge shaped disposable FWD car to DD I'd be looking at 20 year old corollas to minimize hassle and expenditure on a car I'm not going to like anyway.

What you forget is that (believe it or not) the Jetta is actually fairly fun to drive, VS the appliance that a Corolla is.

Biggest issue is I wouldnt drive half of them much at all, and I hate having 2 stuffed in the garage. It makes eliminating one easy, but getting down to 2 a little harder because (1) I need a car to haul kids without care (2) a car for weekends/ Cars& coffee & solo driving days, and (3) a car for canyons/ track days

It's the nonsense thread I can go off topic a bit on that, with a few expensive or vintage exceptions FWDs are mobility blobs to me so if I'm going to put up with a FWD I'm not going to deal with VAG headaches or spend a lot of money. I would genuinely rather daily a clean 5 speed 2006 Corolla than a 2026 Civic Type R because I'd rather keep that extra $40k in the stock market or in a classic car than have a daily that is more fun and quick on paper, but to what end.

As long as you're under 200bhp-ish a FWD is totally fine.

You should just keep the E30, if you sell it you'll just end up buying another one down the roadanyway . Sell everything else, buy a solid daily driver. Put the rest into the E30, or savings, maybe a big ass party.

Yeah I also have no business opening my mouth here but I see no benefit to the Jetta other than that it's newer(muh safety) than the E30 and gets decent fuel economy... and maybe it's different down there but you need to use an awful lot of fuel to break even with a whole-ass second car.

ITR, EK9... what's the floor for a decent one these days? $20k? You can get an E46 M3 for that, a TT Z32, 240Z
