Thanks and yea i guess there is no real way to get a polished aluminum. Would take to much work and be easier to just wait it out for them to get back in stock. Are the a tire rack exclusive? I have good luck with finding back ordered shit on ebay.

I haven't found them, or any like them in the correct size or color anywhere.

There are already reports of fake glasses being sold

My theory is if my welding hood can protect my eyes from welding which is gonna be way brighter then it should do just fine with a silly eclipse.

Yeah, that what I'm going to use. All the normies are going to be jealous of our superior eye protection

Unless your welding hood meets the darkness specs for looking directly at the sun, your theory could leave you with permanent eye damage. You may want to read up on the subject.

I have sort of tested the theory by looking directly at the sun with it on. No issues but i probably should read into it more

Indeed, though I think I saw a comment saying 14 may possibly be too dark, 12 wasn't enough, and despite 13 probably being ideal, finding a 13 would prove difficult at best.

I wish I could find where I read that...

Man I can't even weld with 10. Anything under 11 and I see spots.

I'm going to search for some more information about that, because my hood's shade maxes out at 13.

                            EDIT; found it

                            Welding goggles

Welders planning to observe the solar eclipse may or may not be in luck, as some welding filters will adequately protect your eyes from the sun. But, please, double-check to make sure that the goggles you intend to use are the right kind.

"There is a particular circumstance in which it's safe," Fienberg said. "We don't recommend it because it's too easy to get the wrong kind of welding filter." Only goggles made for electric arc welding can be used to observe the sun, and they must have a shade scale number of 12 or higher. Shade 13 is ideal for solar viewing, but that shade is typically not sold in stores, Fienberg added.

Same here, I'm usually at 12 to 13

I have never had an issue. Maybe its a higher rating then what it says.

Everyone's eyes are different. You are probably just less sensitive.
