Well I'm hoping this shit is over with, but my confidence isn't high because it's 'only a 30 day extension'.

I think he's going to realize that he's pissed off a lot of people up here in exchange for whatever he gained by doing this, and they're not going to magically get un-pissed off.
I imagine american liquor will be back on shelves, but I think everyone up here was suddenly shocked into caring where their food/drink comes from and are going to at least experiment with non-american brands for foodstuffs. Some of the free trade agreements that were hastily signed between Canada and Mexico, Ecuador, and whoever else are going to take a bite out of that market at least. People/businesses who hastily changed their workflows or BOMs to avoid tariffed american products aren't going to be in a rush to change them back just for a 30 day extension.

I don't know that there was anything necessarily nefarious with this. I've seen people say he did this to crash markets to buy the dip, or to cause chaos to draw attention away from musk or other fuckery, but who knows.

Your right fruits and vegies are definitely manual, and there is a long long history of lots of migratory farm workers coming in every season with a farm /employer sponsored worker program with the H2-A visa program. I agree some areas/farms might see a labor shortage and that might cause some price fluctuation, but give the ease with which it is for those workers to get an H2-A visa it might be minimal

in canada, we are seeing a drop in out of country temp farm workers. some are simply staying away out of fear even though it makes no sense as it's a different country. others aren't showing because of bad working conditions and reputation of exploitation. lots of employers take advantage over the workers not being able to get back to mexico easily if things are bad, we are a lot further away.

I agree with sleeve on the egg thing. Avian flu is an ongoing/accelerating issue. Will they decrease testing or safety margins to reduce the culling? who knows.
Fresh produce and labour are going to be hit hard. Time will tell with the rest.

Come on man, you know the real answer to this, and its been a long running deal going back 24+/- months and more recently a repercussion of the Biden Dept of AG's order to euthanize around 100m chickens in the US flock. Remember 2 years ago with the tainted eggs, that affected supplies for most of the main grocers in the country? Or again this last fall when it got them again and this time Costco's suppliers? Those events destroyed lots of eggs and supplies haven't really caught back up. Now we are killing off big swaths of the flock to stymie (or flatten the curve if you will) the spread of the Avian Flu in the national flock. This removes them from both egg production and from the general food supply.

Simple economics, less chickens in the food supply suddenly to lay the eggs, less eggs to sell to market, and you know supply and demand rules apply. High production egg producers have been nearly 100% automated since at least the early 60's (my grand parents ran a couple hundred thousand laying hens form the mid 60s till the early 80's and they were about 95% automation back then. There's not thousands of people (migrants of questionable immigration status) walking though the hen houses manually collecting millions of eggs every day not showing up for work now hindering your supply at your local Ralph's. The only people manually collecting eggs now a days are your common folk or small "homesteaders" a few laying hens for personal use or the Amish.

In the same speech he speaks of deporting all the Illegal aliens he also speaks of lowering food prices.

Guess what though, the cheap, manual labor that does the back breaking work didnt show up for work, for fear of deportation... soooo supply of said cheap food has gone down and prices gooooo not down...
