I do not care to change your mind. It is good that we see things differently, it is healthy, for a push and pull is good for our society.
Yet, I see nothing to support that the man himself cares for anything past his own nose. Either that, or the people around him are so completely incompetent that they cannot relay how his decisions, or the decisions of underlings impact the lives of humans globally.
It is a simple reality that changes in funding have already cost thousands of lives. Yet, there is no good way to count these people for we have alsp dismantled the systems that might do so. If we say these people do not matter, we open ourselves up to be the next ones who do not matter.
That is not to say that we are responsible for everyone. We're not. But I think we owe a duty of care to those we can support. From our close allies, to the less well off here at home, on down to some unnamed child in Africa.
There will be some good things to come from this administration, but, I strongly feel that the lasting impact will leave this country more vulnerable to the influence of elite.
We are the people, this is our country too, and I do not appreciate this current course. Yet, the man is the president now, which is how the system works, and as such it is his show, but he better be man enough to accept responsibility for both the good and the bad. I am skeptical that he is able to accept that.Leave a comment:

I don't see it that way, in regards to the diplomatic efforts to end both conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza.
Maintain fucking decorum, like the world leading nation we are supposed to be.
No. The efforts are not earnest in either case. Neither were efforts prior to Trump. We are now on the wrong side on both counts, which wasn't the case before.
No, who said he was? Frankly, I do not think the man gives a shit if 1,000,000 US service personnel were to die for nothing. Fortunately, he prefers bluff to actual bluster.
You come on, see the danger to this society, which is horribly flawed, but not worth destroying. A steady hand is the way, chaos allows bad actors to take control. The administration, not the man, is trying to gleefully dismantle our system of government. This could lead to almost anything. The man himself is being used just as he thinks he is using others.
Trump also ended our campaign against the Yemenis..... Trump has spoken out against Israel in an unprecedented way.... Will this change our relationship w Israel in a meaningful way? None of us know, but calling them out is sure a start...
"I don't think the man gives a shit if 1,000,000 US service personnel were to die for nothing" is crazy. You think that but there's nothing that would support that outside of personal presumptions.
I really just don't see it the way you laid it out, obviously.
The US never maintained decorum ever.
I don't see how there's some sort of expectation for POTUS to come in and change the deep rooted corruption and end every conflict in less than 5 months
This convo is just kicking a dead horse. I'm not going to make you see this differently and vice versaLeave a comment:

So what is your expectation from the white house?
Is trump not actively trying to diffuse the war in Gaza and Ukraine?
Is Trump advocating to send US forces to aid in any of these conflicts?
Come on lolLeave a comment:

I regret that he went and soured our relationship with Canada and Greenland/Denmark, major unforced error there.
I just wonder how much Democrats regret not being honest about Joe Biden's deteriorating health, putting him in a live debate as if we wouldn't notice what we'd already been witnessing the past few years.Leave a comment:

Yeah, I totally get that.
US media don't report on it. there's enough crime there that it doesn't hit american radar. it gets reported here much more.
no surpirse there at all. i wouldn't recommend a US plated car in ontario at all. possibly bc. it'll be fine everywhere else though. i wouldn't even travel to ontario without a car at this time.

it's just not worth taking a car over the border if you like it.
I typically don't watch the news for the sake of my sanity, so I don't know shit.Leave a comment:

After a quick search, it seems like the opposite is true, american plated cars are being vandalized in Canada. Which makes more sense, since Canadian's are obsessed with american politics.
