    Febi HD Rocker arms

    Hey M20 community

I bought a rocker arm from FCP Euro last month and surprisingly, it seemed to be an updated "HD" design. To be honest, I didn't even notice it at first until I bought a few more and noticed they were different. Now, looking around on facebook I see that Febi HD rocker arms are a thing.

I talked to FCPEuro about this and they say they have no way of knowing which part will come when I order it, which is odd and surprising, but whatever. AutohausAZ, which seemed to have the best price on rocker arms also sent me the old design.

Does anyone know where to buy the updated HD design from Febi where I won't get sent the original design? Apparently the Febi part number is the same for both. (IE is out of stock, although to be honest I'm not sure if I trust IE).

    Thanks!

What is HD rocker? Sounds like marketing trick. I'd expect that Febi is just normal OEM quality.

Febi 05828 is the p/n previously sold by Bimmerheads/IE as their HD rockers. As long as you’re ordering via that Febi p/n and not the BMW p/n you should find what you’re after.

However, I believe there used to be two m20 Febi rocker arm part numbers and only see 05828 now when looking it up, so one may have gotten discontinued thus lumping them together.

they are thicker on the adjustment side and the eccentric arms. i'm running a set bimmerheads supplied. can easily see the difference.

Ok I expect the adjustment side is where the rocker fails, if it happens. Odd thing is that I have both rockers: BMW and Febi and I don't see the difference. I must have a closer look. Probably those Febi rockers that I use in my race car are not the 05828 HD version.

Historically, BMW and Febi have been identical for sohc engines, voids included.

The rockers will break in tension on the inside, usually at the transition into
the adjuster if they don't have voids.
If they do, then the void may or may not act as a stress raiser,
and the rocker can break there instead.

It's been long enough- are the voids even still a feature?

              t
used to polish the inside arc, and if it didn't show perforation, ran it.
now, sometimes I just mess with people. It's more entertaining that way. george graves

here's a pic from my build

stock on left, hd on right.

edit: i spun an eccentric on a hard pull and had no damage with an hd rocker. yes, i am that dumb. pretty sure it would have snapped the stockie.

Unfortunately both FCPEuro and AutohauzAZ don’t differentiate by part number. I talked to both of their customer service departments. They claim Febi don’t distinguish them, therefore they are unable to. So it seems like just the luck of the draw as to which version you get.
