    M20 with 284/272 idle afr

Do you guys think that cam has big enough overlap where idle will improve with 13.8 base afr at idle? My idle isn't super bad but I want steadier considering its at 900 rpm already. Would it makes sense to lower AFR to 13.8 in case the cam lets some fresh air into the exhaust?

Not an expert on m20s but 13.8 sounds pretty rich to me. What engine management?

Are you running a standalone and can make the change on the fly?

That's really the best way to do it. Feel and listen to how the engine responds after you drop the target AFR.

Idle it where it's stable. With 630cc/min injectors and a 272° camshaft my target is 13.6:1. M20s are batch fire from the factory and that combined with larger injectors that don't like small pulse widths becomes the limiting factor.

you just do the changes to make the engine happy, only caveat is you dont want to be compensating for some other issue
