Seems like you've already pulled the trigger anyway, but going from the photos it seems like there are some small pings on the fire ring. Maybe not enough to blow the gasket, but I thought it might be indicative of some pinging. Maybe that's just due to the crush while torqueing the head studs? Either way, hope the rebuild goes smooth. Looking forward to seeing some redemption numbers.

I believe these indents are premade into the gasket so the valves will clear. There is one located in the lower right of the sealing ring as well.

The m50 is completely torn down now and so is the m52 engine I had as an extra.

The plan now is to use the 2.8 crank with 135mm rods. Stroker M50 on way. There will be a bit of downtime on updates as I am waiting for pistons which are 1-2 months out.

Yes, it is time. Glad to see it. Nice Molnar rods too, I wish they weren't backordered when was buying my parts. Good luck with the build!

As soon my absolute shit storm Terminator X ECU swap to run my M42 is done assembly will begin. All was going well until I figured out you must have a cranking speed of over 250ish RPM to sync the crank and cam sensors... Turns out we are only turning sub 190 or so meaning the E30 is dead in the garage and I need the space to build this engine.

Should have some more updates soon.

Alright lets get started while I wait on new oil squirters.

Squirters came in from the mother land. Heres a few photos of the crank install. Checked my machine shops work and installed the crank. All main bearing tolerances are .001 +/-.0005. Using Permatex engine assembly lube. Dropped the crank in and torqued in three steps to 60 lb ft per ARP instructions. The only thing throwing me off a tad is my crankshaft end play. Spec with oiled parts is .006. My engine is at best .004

Not sure if that is because of this gooey juice I am using or what.

If anyone has any 2 cents on that chime in.

Otherwise no issues. Crank spins in block but it takes a little force to move it. Not much but enough where both hands are required. I think we are in the money.

Next up check rod bearing clearance and start the tedious process of pairing rods with pistons and grinding rings...

The crankshaft seems a bit tight to me. Does anyone have any thoughts on this. Check my work.

Main bearing tolerance .0008 to .0023. My measurement check with plasti gauge was .001 to .0015 on all 7 mains. The crank takes a considerable amount of force to spin. I want to verify this is ok before I proceed. Let me know what you guys think.

Confirmed all ok with my machinist.

Moving on now to pairing internal parts for balancing.
