Found an uncut M52 harness in my shed and started some swap wiring.
I'm going to try to document this a little better than last time.
There's more to the harness than this, but after I cut out everything else, this is all that should go through the C101, and the OBD2 port running back through the harness to the glovebox.
So the condor order showed up, and I unceremoniously tossed the harness on top of the engine without adding the C101 plug yet (so I can trim any excess to fit the bay)
Nothing else to report other than two snowstorms that didn't melt and a lot of getting fucked by school - in fact, I'm writing this while I'm procrastinating on a Vibrations midterm...
I probably won't touch this car for a while, just from lacking motivation and the Outback needs work and my other e30 needs a fuel rail/adapters, so I'm not going to touch this for a while.
My rear Mtech bumper got cancelled a while ago.
Ordered in October and it didn't ship because of some restriction, so I'm rethinking my options. Originally I wanted to do a replica 4-dr MT2 kit but now I don't know if I want to go through the effort of fitting all the side pieces.... so what does r3v think should I throw on this thing for bumpers?
Rear valence is hacked so I really just want a light single piece fiberglass bumper to wrap and install.
Thinking something single piece either MT2 or M3 rep from pesch of somewhere of ill repute, preferably <$300 CAD shipped. Interested in any other options.

I just like the idea of being able to test stuff on this car without destroying what little is still nice about my other one. Fender flares, sloppy low comp engine, stupid $50 amazon coilovers, 3dprinted floor mount shifter, etc.
Maybe if I like some of them, they'll eventually end up on the other car with a few lessons learned, and I am 100% planning to drive this one year round if I can, plus track school/lapping days.
Just a chassis with minimal emotional attachment I guess?

Took me a few years to come to terms but it's sold.
A lot of life shit going on and I'd be dreaming if I thought I'd ever get around to this. Too many projects, too many large projects.
It would cost more for me to spend the time to get this car on the road and presentable than just buying a decent running E30.
So a friend and I threw the interior back together, I fired the front end on, and I threw it on marketplace for $2k as a rolling shell.
The old owner contacted me in 5 minutes, sent a deposit within the hour, and picked it up on Saturday.
I ended up selling it with the M52/G260 that was in it, and threw in all the parts that I had to complete it.
Pretty happy to be done with it honestly. Still have 4 cars. That isn't manageable at all, but they technically all run, and I'm heading in the right direction.

I'm dealing with 3 cars (I don't include wifeys car in the list) and it can be a lot since they all need something, but I still think its the right number. 2-car solution isnt a realistic thing.

Good work on the downsizing effort- as I get older I appreciate leaning into one car more vs having my effort/funds spread out across several.
Once I put some work into trying to stop the 'chasing car destination' mindset that plagues us all I found myself a lot more satisfied with what I already had vs searching marketplace like a crackhead for the next best thing. It's an actual addiction, methinks, and felt quite nice to tone that down a bit...

This is the #1 reason I avoid being on FB and marketplace...
I've been chasing the perfect car and keep thinking the one/two that I have are the ones... but still not quite there.

Yeah, I think 3 makes sense -
1x long range baby transporter, safe/comfy/reliable - XC90 fits the bill well. Seats 7, fuel economy is good enough, seats are excellent, headlights are godly, Pilot Assist is terrible at self driving, but leaving it on somehow reduces the mental toll that the 6hr drive to the inlaws on single lane highways in moose country. Little twincharged 2.0 is no slouch.
1x fun car, ideally can daily in the summer without much worry, maybe it's a project in the winter, but I can slap it together enough to drive it in the summer - E30. R56 also fits, but between the two I would rather the E30, and the R56 already robbed a winter of labour from the E30 and I'm sour about it.
1x multipurpose, something to fill the gaps. Drive year-round, take the baby, does something the others don't (winter/awd car, excels off road, can move bulky shit, can tow, etc.) - LR4 checks a lot of that. Kid seat. Comfy enough, larger interior (can fit 4x8 sheets of drywall, but they need to go diagonally), can tow, off road is good but needs some mods.

Yeah, I think fewer has always = more better for me, but it's hard to make it happen for some reason
I'm trying to kill that mindset by more-or-less eliminating practicality/reliability from the criteria of why I want a car.
If I buy a car because it's reliable, or because it's practical, I don't like it and I just dream of getting rid of it.
I think my first E30 is evidence that if I like something enough, I won't ever consider selling it, so I'm trying to replicate that with the LR4.
I have bad ideas about marketplace as well. I still look at potentially rallycross shitboxes (I have a pact with some friends...), and have alerts for newer Volvo wagons, old BMWs, other LR3/LR4/L322 full fat rangies, and Discovery 1/2 even though I have no real intent to buy.
But once the LR4 has a receiver (factory one is quick release and a bit sketchy) it's nothing to rent a uhaul trailer...
