The Last race of the year is a 14H race that runs about 6h in the dark at NJMP, we started prepping for the big event just a few months away.

Fitting sealed LEDS into the factory sealed housings / Buckets. Odd tight fit, works ok, tedius to fit.

Good progress!

Upgraded brake lights with leds and refitted the 3rd brake light. We ran though about 3 different bulbs and found better ones thought the years.

Finally, I think the best stereo match for the E30. Sounds much better than the Conti/ Vdo radios and so much more appealing.

Sorting out a better steering shaft

Much more proper upgrade with Woodward components

Clutch line ran, Fuel filter relocated, S54 FPR housing with 3.5 bar regulator, Worked out pretty well and should pretty direct swap over when S54. I phone likes to not take photos in the orientation that they show on the screen, and photobucket doesn't allow you to rotate... Unreal..

Pre- Racecar.

This month has been super tough, Getting racecar together, and having Van tow rig issues. Low fuel pressure battles. Good news is I got some of the preventive upgrades out of the way. And Work....

Fault p0087 - Can't forget that fault

Replace fuel filters - Black stuff
Drop tank and clean algae
Replace fuel filters
Upgrade - install Airdog lift pump
Replace Fuel Pressure relief valve - Bosch
Replace Injectors with LLY injectors - I look the parts guy in the face, I said are you sure these are correct and I don't use the LBZ injector. This guy working at a place that is called diesel injection said it takes the LLY injector
Replace Injectors With LBZ Injectors - WTF.. That's all I got avoiding a rant and frustration

CP3 high pressure pump - FUCKIN FIXED....

I didn't do the work, The injectors take about 11H (This go it was X2!) and the CP3 takes about 11H. Unfortunately fortunate, The van wasn't ready to tow for the race, But my girl friends dad let us borrow his 24V Dodge and trailer.
First world problems right... My Mindfulness Reminder.

Everything is a learning process.. I'm the guy towing rolling in the truck stop with 20 miles to go maximum on fuel to make up time while traveling. Low fuel tank level can cause cavitation in the CP3 pump due to the feed line being under vacuum. ESPECIALLY when there is no lift pump! Common Duramax upgrade. A Durmax guy who had a shop a while said from the beginning, 150K = CP3 and Injectors, I was at like 147K... Diesel trucks are expensive...

I don't know if this as a LBZ or LLY injector but they look the same minus a code somewhere..

And we finish up the lighting for next months 14H Race.

Ill run these backwards order so it looks like where passing..

Broken selector with less than 2h to go.. A 30 something min repair with luckily the neighbor having welder to tig it back up.

Sometimes you just know somethings going to break, The more you think about it, the more it pokes in your mind the sooner it seems to let go. Welp everyday day is exactly the same. We had a the shift linkage break with 2 hours or so to go, the kept us from podiuming AND kept us from clinching the AER Team Championship.. I remind myself 1st world problems. Not called to podium, I/we were reminded i guess were human after all. Our first non podium Race. Go Team!... But we really have been phenomenal all year, even including this failure. And always in my mind what's next...

Returning from the race the truck was left with not much fuel, made it less than 5 miles while taking a car to indy... This was the first time I had to walk to get fuel, carry fuel back in cans, Call someone to help get it going (Girlfriends Dad..) What a month

Things are starting to come together some and make sense, New 944 booster / Servo in, New strait 25mm / 750 Master cylinder, And sorting out pressure sensors

Testing the stereo, Feels good setting here. But still immobile..

Making / adapting a fitting for the fuel system

Replaced my horn contact spring!

Tapped into pressure sensors for the AIM Data

Ran new stainless fuel lines and brake lines to the tank. Used E46 fuel / brake line retainers trimmed down, and sourced some fancy screws off Mcmaster

You can see how much tidier things are, ESP with the woodward fab steering Joints

Used the E46 connector box for connector mounting

Yaw sensor repositioned with the LCQ-1 in place.

Soo, I think the unavoidable happened... I don't think the system will have enough BASS, Subwoofer, join the chat. Alpine 300W all in one.

Not to shabby for my first "Speaker Box" Coming in at 13LBS

And got the front speakers finally buttoned up!

Really Motivated to make it to The Vintage! in 2021!!!

Yeah, I can't wait to get them tuned in on the track. I'm trying not to buy MRT DTM arms because.... Another one off part... I have 96+ arms an need to swap out to 95 arms... Not ready!
I wish I could present its current state and discuss. Getting there.

Yes, and getting easier. Photobucket inverts the upload list and gets confusing from my phones reference list, and the further you have to dig bag the harder it is to sync the months.

It was a pleasure to have Anthony Magagnoli and Johan Schwartz there at the last race to share the car, event, and company with. But down to the bones this season is mostly 2 drivers that crewed, maybe 2 crew members who drove, all I all it went hand in hand all the way back to the service at the shop... We looked for ever beat to hit without a skip. They say the best way to loose a best friend is to build a race car together, thanks for AJ Holley’s mini in-house planning and HR department for saving us from our own compermises to make this program work together. In the end one the most satisfy feelings is how refreshing the simplicity of the e30 is, much like the Miata nemesis, low cost of consumables is what helped us have the budget to compete the season and is something dying in modern cars. We really love the E30 and keep us motivating ourselves forward. Not sure what next season holds, but thankful for the hard work we’re able to achieve and have payoff this year with alot of folks not so lucky. Well it our last event! We need at least 6th place in class to win the team championship! It will be our first time night racing. And it was pretty wild, especially coming to the top of a the crest on the back kink where it is the darkest on track and your lights can bend back down to the surface.. whoo! We were excited to have some guest Anthony Magagnoli and Johan Schwartz. All year we had the car pretty much to ourselves and it helped learning the track. This year getting others setup and getting them in for seat time really cut into our practice time and made learning during the night practice a bit tougher. Leaning the track isn't to tough, but repeating the rack though muscle memory takes a little longer and I think really helps at night.

Guess whos back? Vanimal! Runs so much better, Kennedy Performance tune really opened it up, Just got to savor the trans now.. Check out that fresh genuine lip too!

P2!, Just couldn't keep the pace of the E46 with 255 tires.,

And that was enough to clinch the AER 2020 Championship!

What a year and a snowball effect of keeping the program running. There are M4GT4, Porsche GT3 Cut cars along with V8 builds and fast E46's all the way to everything in-between to us. With consistent pace and staying on track we raced up the points from the other teams and podiumed every race but one. Pretty intense year.

Not only did we get the Team Championship, We captured the P1 and P2 positions in the Drivers championship.

The next morning, still soaking it in.

Back at the shop, still soaking it in. #387. A BMW 3 Series from 1987 is the winning car for the 2020 AER Championship.

If you didnt know, know you do. The factory repair instructions for the HVAC box removal on an e28 is to pull the windshield.
But you can get around it. Parts availability and everything being old made this a tedious job.

A local NASA spec E30 Racer mentioned of a shop in Indy was able to bend his suspension to get the alignment setup for his race car. I reached out a few months ago to the shop to see if they still did this service, and to give them a heads up id be interested. Again as usually, I had and extreme case. 1 inch of total toe out equally from both sides... Most people done seem to take me seriously, I guess everyone must just act like they are going to do stuff and never follow though.., I guess I've became the same to everyone else.. Anyway, the car got tidied up, scheduled was penciled in, and made its way up to Indianapolis.

Another piece of the puzzle to the audio system. Sorry, I phone is terrible at rotating photos and photobucket has to rotation function. What a duo. This is a cool piece of audio, Audio Control LCQ-1. It converts LINE in into Low Level for amp inputs for head units that done have a Low Level out. Best of all it as an EQ that I have been hesitant to install. And a Sub output. Really neat!

The closest I've had this car completed again. But its not complete, working to get a weight for the updated ABS calibration. It's a bit tough projection finish weights. My goa with me in it hopefully will be 2750

Off to Indy to see if my rear alignment can get bent into spec
