Damn that 888 looks nice. I used to dislike the square headlight front end, but it's grown on me over the years.

Sounds like you've built a bit of a "Monster" with the 600!

Are both bikes dry clutch? That was my favourite part of my 2000 Monster 900ie.
Ended up selling it after fixing it up.

Sadly have not had my '05 R6 out at all this year, but hoping next year I'm in good enough shape to get back on the horse!

Both are dry clutch. The little bike I've done the quiet clutch mod, swap a friction plate in place of the steel one on the inside of the clutch stack so it doesn't rattle sitting in neutral. Makes a little noise if the clutch is in, but being able to sit in traffic commuting to university without it sounding like a skeleton jacking off in a tin can is nice.
The 888 is open cover and original setup so it's loud. It's only a weekend bike though so I don't mind too much.

Warming up the 900ie in the driveway one afternoon, and the neighbour comes over exclaiming "What Is That Noise?!". She was less then pleased haha

Not mine, thank goodness, just some pictures I took many years ago that I came across. This thing was the sketchiest bike I ever saw. Big, heavy, cobbled together thing with an undersized front brake and no muffling to speak of. The builder was quite a character, as you'd expect, and it was apparently pretty difficult to kick start.

                    Hope it doesn't go Arai.

Currently running a Sedici Systema 3 with built in comms. I would definitely skip the built in comms next time, but the helmet is quiet and works well for a modular.

Are communicators still a complete gongshow for helmets? I remember there being the Sena and Cardo ones were pushed by all the youtubers but since we were poor, all my friends bought the amazon specials. None of these worked with the others and were generally just complete POSes to pair to each other, had shit range, etc.
Is it any better in 2025?

Loved my Scorpion EXO-1400 or whatever the model was. Yeah it was loud, but it was light as fuck. Wish they made them in old man Hi-viz options.

As long as someone in the group has a nicer comm everyone should be fine.

I have a Sena system in that Sedici and it works well, except the range is mid, battery life is mid, maybe 6 hours in a group, and it can't charge when on. I also need to be out front for everyone to hear me, when I'm tailgunning it's questionable if people can hear me transmit.

The Cardo Spirit I have as a 2nd unit has great batt life, great range, but somewhat poor audio quality. It can also only do one connection, so you have to pair it with a better unit and they sometimes can make group intercom work.

They both pair easily enough in open mesh, but pairing with other and older units can be tricky for everyone to remember the right buttons to press.

I upgraded from a Sedici strada 2 which I actually liked a lot and def realized how much I like it after putting the Arai on.

The Arai is obviously sick, but I def realize how much bang for your buck a Sedici is.

Cardo is the goat. I got a packtalk neo and the battery life is ridiculous. The DMC mode is really nice too. I think it uses your cell network rather than bluetooth

Me n the boys bought Amazon specials, Fodsports M1-S, but they work alright. Pairing is super easy and we have 5 connected. I don't know if there's a limit to how many, I would assume so.
Wind noise over 80kmh (45mph?) makes it harder to hear but below that it's fine. Can bluetooth music and that as well.
I can see why better ones are more expensive but for what we do it's not worth it

Took the Arai on it's first ride on Sat.

Very impressive helmet. The best part is how quiet it is. I could hear my music through my cardo clearly doing over 100.

If you got money burning a hole in your pocket, either a cardo or Shoei/Arai is a fun thing to blow it on.
