How strange. I had parts cnc'd in China earlier this month, quoted $22.46 per part and bought 10. Grand total was $224.60. Shipped DHL, I expected an additional fee but didn't pay one. I'm genuinely surprised.

I'm so glad I ordered my big pile o RX7 parts from Japan in late 2024. From what I understand temu and shien other direct ship cheap chinese crap companies ruined the de minimis exemption for us with billion dollar markets of mail order direct from factory to consumer to landfill garbage. If that weren't happening the relatively small orders of car parts we get would probably still be exempt.Comment

Oh yeah, Temu and Shien absolutely fucked everything for everyone. Apparently, the US had an unusually high de minimis at around $800. Its debatable if that's too high. But its just bullshit to base a whole business on using the de minimis to undercut the competition's price by dodging taxes. I mean, I like the ingenuity to capitalize on an unfair advantage, but I'm glad they closed the loophole to shut it down.
It just sucks when you're trying to buy little things from small businesses abroad. Like i got a knock-off alpina vent gauge from a guy in france, i feel like its fair to avoid import taxes on this. I'm on the fence about a product from a small company like DTAFast.sigpic
