See i was like ~12ft from the wall in my pic, I cleaned the lenses of my Smileys with rubbing alcohol, polished the lenses, etc.

And no i Dont have the XB35 bulbs, I have the earlier ones they offered in 5K. Im wondering if the Hella Smiley design has the cutoff and bulbs at different distances from eachother which gives the cutoff a fuzzy soft look with hot spots. Because my cutoff has never looked as clean as yours, even outside of the smileys.

The cutoff and light output is just bad, even past 30 feet.

I'm going to try adjusting it around today and see if i can fix it, but I have a feeling ill end up modifying the stock projectors to use a US ellipsoid cutoff style, and use denso ballasts and some phillips bulbs.

make an account and post your issue in the help section. those guys are usually pretty quick to help diag the problem and come up with a solution. They helped me tune my morimoto mini D2S set up on a set of headlights i built for my honda. came out awesome and has a perfect cutoff.

I'm just about to rebuild my depo's with the squaredmotorworks kit and some mini h1's. maybe i can help troubleshoot once i've got them together...

            K guys,

88 325ix - Front Right Steering Knuckle from BMW Seattle.

How much from the dealership? Just got one in for a customer today from Germany. Freight was 60.04. Any guesses?!

This makes me think that either the bulbs aren't seated properly, or that the bulbs themselves are bent or something... They're fairly sensitive to the bulb not being seated perfectly. Is there any mold lines or anything in the bulb-seat area?

                      +1

Bulb seat is the most common cause of a poor cutoff or lackluster performance.

Are you referring to strut housing? Because if so, I think I know.

Ill have to try messing with the bulb seat.

755.36 + tax and you can buy one at BMW Seattle. - Well, it'd be coming from Germany.

I'm pretty sure I have some old H1 bulbs sitting in my old euro projectors, if you want them I'll give them to you. Might help diagnose if its your bulbs
