If you’re going to go through the troubles to run manual brakes I’d go for an actual dual master cylinder set up with balance bar, reinforcing the firewall.

General impressions and advice on doing a brake booster delete on my '92 325ic

Since it's a sunday driver and not a track car, just stick with the stock system. It works really well and is dependable.
If you NEED to spend money on something, I've installed this kit from garagistic for a customer. It was a massive pain in the ass, and I don't think it was worth it.
E30 BRAKE BOOSTER DELETE BRACKET (FOR WILWOOD AND TILTON PEDAL BOX) It's no secret. The brake booster relocation is the hardest part of the V8 into E30 swap! The factory booster is in the way. Some choose to use E32/E34 booster setup and relocate behind the headlight. This is costly,

These are an easier option https://www.compbrake.com/product/bm...ylinder-kit-b/ vs a pedal box

that is so much simpler! I wish I had been told to install that instead of the whole pedal box thing. It was a late model car, so I had to convert it to a pre-airbag steering column and everything. What a huge pain and waste of time.sigpic

Their hard line to soft hose brake system conversion is another good example of a braindead product.

I'm the one who sent Todd here for advice about the Chase Bay kit, and you guys didn't disappoint. I told him that kit was more "hey, lookee what I got" bling crap rather than anything useful.

Ken

It's not ignorance, it's a lie. There's no way you get to the point where you're selling products like that and don't have a single inkling of what an OEM braking system looks like, let alone an OEM master cylinder. They know that no remotely modern car has a single feed braking system, they know that the reservoirs are internally divided and even if they weren't the feed bosses are separate and contain enough fluid to keep the intact braking circuit working. Anyone on this forum who owns an E30 or any other car that part is sold for can go pull their reservoir off or take a junkyard master cylinder apart and see for themselves if they don't believe me. If chase bays do catch wind of this discussion about the foul nature of that product and the plain-as-day lies about the "assumed risk" on the product page they'll just resort to calling me a "hater" or "jealous of their success". That's what charlatans do, they have no rebuttal so they cry "hater" and whip the fanboys into a frenzy of ad-hominem attacks to bury you. It's a bad product being sold with a lie, and yes it does make me mad. I'd go so far as to say it's a potentially dangerous product. Maybe an automotive engineer could throw his opinion into the ring on that for me since I'm just a lowly car guy who is an engineer in a separate industry so there's no way I have any idea what I'm talking about here.

Too true - plenty of fake YouTube 'gurus' adopt a similar tactic with their followers. Online business is pretty shady at times, and snake oil salesmen have existed since the start of the industrial revolution.
I had to replace the clutch master cylinder on my wife’s 2015 Hyundai Elantra recently that on the surface has a single reservoir for all three circuits (front / rear brakes and clutch - makes topping up or replacing the fluid really easy), but if you look at the internal construction of the reservoir, at the top the fluid is shared, but internally its baffled so if the fluid were to leak out, once the level drops below a certain point, the reservoir splits into 3, feeding each circuit individually. Its a simple system to understand. A single feed would be a disaster on that car with your brakes and clutch all failing at once!

There are some far better booster delete options E.g. massive dual m/c with balance bar and increased pedal ratio that are also capable of legitimately being used on the street with the inherent compromises. it’s probably only worth investigating for one of a few reasons and complexity is not one of them.89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...

I like the "secured using factory stays" for the pipe and it clearly doesn't fit properly. This shit is dangerous.Last edited by e30davie; 08-07-2022, 09:55 PM.
