but the funny thing that most dont realize, i drove well over 5k miles on that cracked block.
Matt Farah reviewed the car on the cracked block, I drove 900 miles down to L.A on the cracked block, plus all the auto-x fun.
M20 was a trooper lol, entire oil pan was mud when I pulled it apart after returning home from bimmerfest. It drank over a gallon of coolant on the trip home from b-fest and was still making excellent power at 19psi AND averaged over 20mpg no problem.
It was just constantly getting worse and the the bimmerfest trip is what made me remove the M20 as the cracks had gotten too bad.

So heres just about finished head valves adjusted and the double checked.
Also discovered megasquirt has a specific ITB mode, it blends alpha n with speed density. Ill be setting up a vacuum block to tie all cylinders together and try to get a signal that can be used around idle range. Doesnt hurt to try ive heard I can get a somewhat stable signal with map sensor reading off of the vac. block. Worth a shot, nothing lost if it doesn't get stable signal
Something like this.

Alpha-n or the hybrid map/alpha-n is definitely ideal though.

How is the switch over point defined? By load, rpm or both? I’ve always wondered how a blended setup works, if you use MAP for low load and idle and then TPS for higher loads wont they try and use the same cell in the table and there be a conflict? at idle on MAP you willl likely be idling at say 900rpm and 60%-70% load, but with a tps map you will be at 0 load89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...

I don't see anything wrong with the cork one I'd just use it. It's what I have that came in my bottom end kit.
If it really worries you, you can use a tube of sealer on both the pan and black and sandwich the cork gasket between the two. My brother dose that with a lot of gaskets. He's a master mechanic and has been for like 10 years.Last edited by Bimmer_man; 03-12-2015, 05:01 PM.Float like a cadillac sting like a Bimmer!:)

Ditch them both and get some rtv sealant and never do the gasket again
