No load plate on my NA b35 either. I talked to Jim Rowe prior to my omission and he basically said not to worry about it. That said if I had one handy I would use it. More importantly I would pay close attention to the condition of the crank holes and the bolts, proper torque and good thread lock. Maybe the pre-coated bolts are an issue but I can't imagine why? I also believe the load plates may vary in thickness.

Fuck man, at least you caught it now, and can fix it. I agree with others, Fuckin' loctite the shit out of it, and get that load plate back in that biotch!!

a better idea if you're really concerned about it is to get a this thing, drill the flywheel bolts and safety wire them all together like this:

the noise goes away with rpm, a loose flywheel would get worse I'd assume.


also no updates on this car, but I've got to say a 325IX is a BLAST to drive. you'd never know its AWD untill your really on the edge.

The way the IX can slide roundabouts is unbelievable, I was questioning whether the AWD was working it was so easy to slide.

BMW seems to make good roundabout-drifting cars. I drifted through a roundabout back when I had my 530xi in the rain (with michelin PSS tires), and my brother said it had as much traction as his car in the dry.

also got pulled over for pulling the same stunt with the whole family in the car (parents and siblings)...
