After getting some ADS speakers hooked up front I start missing the great sound system my 325Ix had. I thought I'd try something else out than the CD43 this go around. Its quite hard to find the right fit radio for an E30. Yes I want bluetooth, But has to look like it was 1990 also...

After some research it takes a connector that a lot of becker, VW and Porsche take. I had the pins in stock and snagged a few radio connectors in the junkyard.

Still a little indecisive i installed the "316" center dash HVAC Panel. I think I want the minimalist feel, CSL. The Continental CD7416U-OR doesn't quite fell at home.

All in all, It sounds kinda crappy.. A. It needs an amp, this head unit is not powerful. B. It just sounds like crap. C. Its never done.
I do just have the front ADS components hooked... On the list to complete the system with rear premium sound speakers.

As the vintage / Birthday month dwindles away work becomes the main focus again.

#Progress
One of the best progress's is driving the car! I do now occasionally take it out. Its loud, Raw, needs refined, but too fun. Handling is better but I was only able to come up with 0 vs 1/8 out previously rear total rear tow... A bit disappointing and I still curious if the Mcoupe trailing arms are a little different in geometry, not both sides could be equally bent? There is still more to slot on the subfame, but that ill be for another month. With no rear bulk head and an aluminum panel for the sunroof delete, a "Race" Exhaust I think of ways and materials to refine it. The other side Recaro gets bolted in also.

An old OKI BMW stomping grounds where we used to do monthly meets. Today, just here for tacos, or not, they closed early...

I did have a rear main leak, I considered tossing this flywheel/ clutch setup. V2 Bimmerworld Strapless. But Just too worried if I destroy it while traveling, how hard the repair would be.. I cheap stock clutch goes in for now.

This is a beautiful build. Your rear diff and shock tower reinforcement is exactly what I wanted to do to my rallycross car. I couldn't get around to it because I found the frame collapsing around the spring hats and that required enough work to fix that I didn't have time for anything else. The trailing arm reinforcement is a great design. Your build is very well thought out and a real inspiration to me. You're doing everything right.

JUNE 2018

May to June was a very busy month, there is no Vacation. Just loads of work before and after taking time off.. So I didn't get photos of the front struts going on or mounting the remote reservoirs. Originally I was going to mount the reservoirs to the strut bar (Garagistic) but they end up fitting better on the inner fenders.

PROGRESS!

Configuring the fan setup. With the Z3 radiator I no longer have room for a puller fan. This looks to be on of Spal's highest CFM Fan in this size. its a tight good fit. Was able to get to seal to the radiator and worked out much better than expected! Will pull some air from the oil cooler too which may help out. Looks like some of the M30 crowd also uses this fan. After going thru 10+ fans this is the end result.

I also played around with different Fan resistors for the 2 stage setup. I think I currently have a lower OHM unit from a Benz currently wired up.

Space is nice, when I first got the space, I was like what am I going to do with 5000Sqft?! Now every corner is full... I think it has something to do with the open table theory.

I Started fitting the Passenger side, I knew if I had an Issue it would be over here with the gas tank vent tube. this was already rusty, So i just cut it and decided to cap it. Will run the tube thru the trunk.

Yes it ran after bridging a maf wire for the 803. Needed cam timing adjustment. As always noted, anything aftermarket isn't strait forward. The factory blocks are too aggressive for most aggressive cams... Piston to valve contact was luckily so light that just retarding the exhaust cam a few degrees sorted the light tapping.. Compression and leak checked out fine. The car needed a bit more time to make it road worthy..AND at this point it sunk in that it wont be making it to vintage this year..

Kentucky is interesting. We get all the seasons. Spring and lovely Fall which are short lived. Winters can be cold with moderate snow, Summers are hot and humid. Not as bad as down south, and snow not as bad as up north be we get a swing of temperatures. They say its good for bourbon, Still have to go south to find rust free cars though.

99gtr - It was a really FAST off season. The endurance cars that run a full schedule have a huge list of STUFF that always need done. The faster the car, the more needy the car.
Comparing alternatives to the JBR race clutch. Something that can run with more hours. Although a part is shorter lived, knowing that is better that having an unknown part fail earlier. We kept the JBR twin disk.

All the S54 Swaps, and e46 racecars have usually been Sub 100k Motors. 100k Rod bearing service is a must. Even if the motor has 50K swapping into a Track / Race applicaiton

Usually with most things they get you 80% there. and its up to you to get the rest right.

Camber toe adjustment is the best upgrade to any E30. How you go about is tough, Always the best way to set and keep adjustment is the most time consuming way (DTM) We never had issues with eccentric adjusters moving, but we've always cranked the crap out of them. The longated slot also only leaves you with about 30% clamping area, that's if you didn't buggering it up slotting it! If you run an aluminium sleeve, most likely it'll mushroom and compress and come loose. Not much area for that 30% to clamp!

This became our best off the shelf solution. Yes I got 2 different sizes or serrated profiles when I first ordered, No surprise bring from Ireland engineering, lucky i cough before welding a mismatch shitshow! But in the end, I think it came out alright. We went with 1/2 hardware because the end goal was to run bearings in the trialing arms. Were still debating that. But all is set up for 1/2 hardware currently. Plus the threaded hole in a non hardened adjuster wont last long. Looking ahead at the new IE adjusters that have a nut on the end, Who in the hell can fit a wrench in there?

Another reason we went with these adjusters. Ever weld a set in and not have enough adjustment? With all the variance of trailing arms... These have a nice amount of adjustment to hopefully accommodate.

Another distraction.
Well any racecar has a tow rig. I've been lucky to borrow one when needed, but time to grow up and buy your own.
After consider the options I knew I wanted a van that could be used for camping. Wanted a diesel. I get myself into scenario where the just aren't options.. But I finally settled on a Chevy / GMC Van. After months of looking I found a clean low millage one in PA. Vans are hard to come by in great shape, as well was any Work Vehicle.
