HAHAHA I just looked it up, 24.8 hours for a timing chain.

edit: timing chain on a 12' 750iL takes. 42 hours. Wat.

Doing spark plugs on an 08 r1 was fun, the frame is right in there with the head and you basically have to tip the gas tank back to get any clearance for the ratchet.

BMW driveshaft driven flat twins for the win huh.

Everything seems super easy to get at for repair.

Well I guess my point was that there are an abundance of 4.2's in wrecked and parted C5's all over the area. Typically the only people buy new 4.2's are the B6/B7 S4 crowd as no one can apparently fix the cylinder scoring problem, but that is a different 4.2.

Anyway, the book time to get the car into that service position is pretty high, but I can do it in about 15 minutes in my driveway. Honestly it is very easy and makes reaching everything a piece of cake. I was annoyed while doing the timing belt on my E30 since the damn core support is in the way. Also, you do not need to put it in service position to replace the serp belt, just timing belt.

And as far as the 5 cyl goes, I miss my 90. The thing sounded awesome.

agree, much easier. I just like the novelty of driveshaft driven motorbikes.
