Went through most of the spares that came with the car. I have a fuel set of front brakes that Im not likely to use (calipers and rotors) that appear to be I. Good condition. Thinking about letting them go to reduce the clutter but not sure what I should look for to confirm condition and prices…there’s more but let’s focus on the fun parts:

I believed these were the old original camshafts but I used this as new cause to open up a line of communication with Sean, the gent who restored the car back in the UK. Turns out he believes these are actually Sprint camshafts. This is great news, but not sure how to verify.

The next item I want to add to the car is the jack. Yes, sacrilege to add weight to the car, but I figured if I have the tool kit, a jack would also be a good piece of insurance. Where were these kept originally?

Finally, I have what I believe are the pieces for the original parking brake, but I’ll start another thread for that just in case someone else is looking to restore an inoperable e-brake, so check that out soon and LMK

girl he been doing that for years

2mAn are these tiny car adventures better than E30 life? Different? I also don't understand the Porsche thing, but I respekt it

As I get older I really question all of this car stuff. The only thing I can loosely pin it down to is nostalgia

At what point do you start adding u's to words?

I've been away from r3v so I missed this thread until now but watched the video.
Honestly clueless about old Lotus (Lotuses? Loti? lol) but I think it's cool.

This is what I was going to say. I drove Roysneon 's touring a few times back in the day and this was what I found I had to focus on.

Rather than C&P from the Lotus forum I figured I would give you guys a special reply (just for you roguetoaster )

Im currently working on a few minor and a major-ish project.

The highlighted projects are still underway, but I began a sidequest to sort out the emergency brake. Besides that, my 5th minilite has arrived here in the states from the UK with no hassle from the Tariff police, we'll see how they react with my next purchase but that might not be until after the dust settles with the other more prevalent projects.

The major-ish project is to have someone take a closer look at the jetting on the Webers because something is up. The car generally cold-starts ok (typically carb cold-start), but after its warm it seems to have an issue staying on. Not sure if the carbs are getting flooded, if the jetting is off, or what. With the time constraints I have, Im just going to pay a pro.

Besides that I should have my OWN 1-4 projects close to completion before I send the car out, because once its good to go, I want to really start driving this thing.

It’s actually not slower than a Miata, maybe the NC and newer ones with mid 6 sec 0-60, but an Elan was faster than a E-Type in it’s day…

                      You should watch this…

                      and then these

Do you have a curb weight for this particular variant? 1500-1600lb range?

They are awesome to drive but you need big ----- to get the most from it like video 3. Will you track it?

varg I don’t have a curb weight on this bad boy just yet, but I fully intend to.

OSAH racing track days are always a thought, but this guy will be primarily for canyons, maybe a c&c, and perhaps 2026 will see a track day

And now you understand why I hate Webers and believe they should be used as door stops or book ends. I've never been able to get a set of webers to run correctly two days in a row. Webers are for people who like to screw with their cars vs actually driving them. Sadly there is likely no easy way to convert to a set of Mikunis (well, maybe. If there is a linkage for a set of SOLEX carbs, the linkage can be adapted to work on a set of Mikunis fairly easily. This is how I'm running Mikunis on the Alfa (or at least plan to)

                              Good luck,

I know Simon's has some mods done, but an early S3 coupe should be around 1300lbs
