These are control arms for SPA generation XC90/XC60/V90, maybe more variants.
What do you notice about them?



That's right. Every single point gets a bracket.
(Also the outer Balljoint is upside down, but that's probably for muh safety, because the strut mounts to the "extra" mounting point on the arm.)
Seems excessive, and expensive, but it was definitely easy to change because you don't have to bust the taper on any balljoints.
Also 4 bolts and one stud are TTY and need to be replaced during an arm change. IMO that point is straight fuckery.

Not sure what you're supposed to take away from this, but I was forced to learn this against my will, and now you are too.

Yep it sold, for slightly more then my reserve as well!
Buyer had it shipped back down to the USA.

The north american M3 just feels like a 328i with a tuning package IMO.
The M3 interior and body bits are nice, and suspension is certainly tight and sporty. But without the powerplant it doesn't have the soul.

They are all truly just M50. Bored and Stroke DOES qualify IT as a ///M special but still not an exotic like the prior (S14) and later (S54) were

Wasn't it Jason Camisa's hot take that the US m3 is better to live with than the euro cars? Sure, they're down on power and don't have ITBs, but they're based on a dead-reliable engine, just keep working without a ton of maintenance, and are cheap/easy to repair. The euro motor is a race engine that requires extra attention and parts are crazy expensive. Sure the euro car is cooler and faster, but the US care is easier to own.

Also, I've never owned an e36 and don't have a horse in this fight.

I was fed up with local low ballers pricing it like a 328i lol.

North American S52B32 in the E36 M3 doesn't feel like the right amount of power for the grip and suspension setup IMO. Even a first gear romp is meh.


I bet the feeling of north american vs euro would be similar to when I M52B28 swapped my E30 with the M50 manifold and standalone. (but was still naturally aspirated). That swap was probably ~50whp more then stock, which is about what the euro S50B32 is over the north american S52B32.

Woke up the car and really just felt like the "right" amount of power for a largely stock chassis setup.

Kind of a mix of sadness and acceptance getting rid of what I had built up as my realistic dream car.

Even if I was in perfect health and it didn't hurt my back to drive it, it was totally underwhelming.
