Okay, I see the valid concern! I must investigate further what I purchased, but basically it is multi-part design that uses rubber rings to separate the damping part from the solid hub structure. Similar part has been used in my racing colleagues M50B28 that turns north of 9000rpm and produces slightly over 350bhp. I'm hoping to get similar results at the end.

yeah sounds like a copy of what ATI use (not sure who developed the concept). When i spoke with them they wanted a 7" inertia ring and even that was less mass/inertia than the stock one

Head is torqued. It was really scary experience to turn the last 90 degrees to aluminium block.

Did you timecert it? Id would have considered studs. :)

          What cams are you running?

I have to pull my head back off soon, thinking going the rabid racing route.

Is that 350whp or engine power you mentioned?

I was up above it, Now I'm down in it ~ Entropy - A Build thread.

I did not do anything for the threads. I feel I should, but block is new so I think it will be fine.

Cams are Cat Cams custom grind. Image just for reference.. My 350hp imaginary target is of course crank hp. Many achieve that here when M52B28 engine is done properly for track or rally. As 350 wheel horsepower measured on a calibrated rolling road dyno it would mean +400 DIN HP from crank which is somewhat unrealistic for 2850cc engine unless it produces peak power above 9000.

What does it mean actually going RRD-route? Head / Bottom end / cams ? They make impressive engines, but I don't see many posts from them that would explain details or results. As engineering point of view I'd be very interested about that.

I got to 285WHP, Hope to smell or touch 300WHP after standalone and port work :)

Interested to see how yours goes. Having the lighter alu block is nice!

Mine was absolutely terrifying experience when it suddenly got very easy... the timecert spun and we had to rebuild again... PTSD lol

I think the stock proper length alu block bolts are the way to go unless you're going 500+. I think Pazi still runs them on his turbo car.

Maybe there are proper length studs out now, I kind of stopped paying attention a few years back.

                    Just read the whole thread!
Great looking racecar, and love all the engine work.

                      Thanks for comments!

Here we are now. Next some cam timing. I must figure out how to mount dial gauge.

Mounting dial gauge was not so simple. There is not much room between cam lobes and cam girdle caps. So I had to do some adapters.
