$300/month for two bikes? Good lord. Insurance is not cheap here, but I paid less than $300 for this year's coverage on my ZRX.

The quote for the other 3 almost didn't change when I removed the e30, but they randomly jumped the quote up by that $1k to meet the old Aviva one.

So I'm moving all my shit minus e30 somewhere else, but it's still wild how much insurance is jumping in the past few years. People can't drive for shit here.

If the Landy or Mini were modified I could run them on Hagerty, but I want to tow with the LR4, which is one of their caveats, and there's no savings from moving the Mini over.

Insurance is a goddamn gong show atm
dude I pay 300 a month for my two bikes here in california loooooooooooooooooool

Without the grom, its way more too, so that basically is paying for itself, I guess.

    It's a rip.

You can drive it where ever you want. Both of my Hagerty cars are in the DD rotation, albeit I work a mile from home, so the miles stay low. If you were putting like 10k plus a year, they might have an issue w that, but your 150 miles a month aint shit.

They mostly care about you having a true commuter and whatever car you have w them to be parked inside. I drive both frequently, but quick jaunts here and there, along w 'fun' drives.

What kind of rules does Hagerty they have about driving the car? How strict are they about it?

I've the f30 as a daily, which gets parked on the street. I can see myself generally taking the f30 if I were to commute to work. The e30 stays in the garage, but living in a city, it's really convenient to take the e30 to stores around town so I don't have to worry about parking. It's all short trips, probably less than 150 miles a month. Could I take the e30 to the shore or hiking?

I got a couple cars on Hagerty. They can be picky with what they insure, but I got full coverage on my e30 at 35k for 70 bucks a month, which is fine with me. I think my SL is like 240 a year with them for full coverage at 25k.

Very good customer service. You call and someone answers the phone right away. No stupid automated and transferred 10 times bullshit. Def recommend.

If someone wrecks my e30, I'm def replacing it with 2 e30s.

    Appreciate the feedback.
    Panici you're 100% correct here.

Unfortunately they would only cover the E30, which doesn't help on the cost front because the volvo and LR4 are the heavy hitters. Broker is switching everything from Aviva to Economical, and it's knocked $1k/year off plus a home insurance discount, and they're happy with the e30. If for some reason they change their mind, at least I have an option.

Ah that was not something made obvious from the quoting process... I'll be calling them later and we'll see.
I've been served a boatload of ads from them recently about how 'we also insure your daily driver' which is why I bothered checking in the first place.

I've had Hagerty for quite some time now and while the rates have been trickling up for a car that rarely gets driven I find the comfort of knowing that its a stated value with no questions asked I am happy. I currently have the 996 and will be adding the E30 anyday now. Both should end up costing me ~$120/month paid on an annual basis

    Yes I am.

    E30 and both E36.
I did have the Miata on there as well but since I blew the engine up, there's no point in insuring it for the time being.

Agreed value policies are nice. Although, they won't insure my E30 for what I have in it.
They will cover anything you do to the vehicle, I literally sent them a link to my build thread when they wanted details for the "modified" status policy.
Going from memory, I believe the stipulations on modifications were no full roll cages (roll bars are fine), and no nitrous oxide?

I will say they took decent care of me when my E30 was rear ended. Adjuster came to my house. I was able to take a cheque/payout for the repairs at the value they agreed and handle the whole repair process independent of them. (With the condition that I couldn't go back for more money if the repairs ended up being more expensive. Which I imagine a bodyshop could negotiate with them directly)

I ended up rolling the money into the bodywork and full paintjob after cutting a quarter panel off a local enthusiast's parts car. Think it worked out to them covering about 1/3rd of the total cost of the full respray colour change.

I've used their flatbed roadside towing a couple times without issue.

God forbid you need it, but the ability to have a car legally totaled, get paid out, and then get to keep the car is good piece of mind. Think they call it Cherished Salvage.

I've asked about occasionally taking a car to work on a nice day, and they asked me approximately how many times a year, and said it's fine.

I imagine there is a yearly mileage limit as well, but I've never run into that problem spreading my driving over so many vehicles :D

I'm paying out the ass now with my broker due to the XC90 and LR4, but my most recent renewal notified me that they are going to refuse to insure my e30.

The convenience of the broker/current policy is worth a lot to me - I get 30 days of coverage on new vehicles without notifying them so I can go buy some shitbox on a whim on any given weekend, and everything is via email so I can add/drop vehicles between coverage levels in 30 seconds if I'm not going to drive something for a few months.

That said, according to the Hagerty quote, that convenience is worth $1-2k/year, so I'm wondering what the catch is.
Probably a huge difference US vs CAN, but I'd still like to hear about your experience with them...

Ahhh! Beautiful! I love all of these!

Do you have an ND filter? I think the shot from the lake's edge would pop just a little bit more with smoother water.
"Breakthrough Photography" is my preferred brand.

Hmm, I would hope so that one year in the past I've hit that with hiking. Definitely not 2024 haha.

Speaking of hiking, you all are my captive audience so here are some highlights from the three adventures I went on in 2024.
    1. Hiking to the summit of Mt St Helens. Just a quick 3.5 mile out and 3.5 mile back. Went on July 4th so still some snow available to use to glissade back down so much less distance to walk coming back. Probably slide a mile worth of distance.

    2. Biked Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park. The road is closed to cars while the plow the snow away. Couldn't make it the entire way as there was some snow left. But ended up being ~42 mile round trip ride. Downhill was fun, but cold. Maybe MrSleeve will make an appearance and give his take on the reservation system in Glacier nowadays...

    3. Quick trip to the North Cascades to look for larches. Why is a yellow needle tree so much fun to see?

Moral of the day, still hike when the weather's questionable. Your photos will be more interesting than just a normal sunny day.

I'm currently on track (ran 5 miles one time last week). This week is super fucking cold, so it's not looking great for keeping up this week. Who knows...
